1.2 BETA is out to select VoiceLive 2 owners

March 4, 2010 by admin

Thought it would be prudent to pass on that VoiceLive 2 version 1.2 beta has been delivered to a couple dozen VoiceLive 2 customers to be put through its passes outside of the internal test program.

Now some of you want to be part of that BETA test. However, these testers were selected through a blog post in early January. There was nothing special about the selection – we just asked for people interested who were using the product. We set a cut-off with the amount of testers mainly due to the ability to go through the data we get. Please feel free to wimper or whine – as you won’t have to do that for too long. Final version 1.2 software is coming soon.

I finally set some time aside today to work on the beta and to me anyway…the patches “sound” better. Recognition is faster (guitar input and aux in – I haven’t tried the midi). The new fx (stutter etc) are not my style and only listened to a few of the presets. For that style I’m sure the people will love it – they are well done. This beta also cleared up a glitch I had in which when I turned on the unit a loud squeel for a split second could be heard – now gone. Other than that, the beta seems to promise what was mentioned. I haven’t looked in to the editing of the expression peddle but again with more time I’ll let you know.

I have Windows 7 64bit with EMU 0404 sound card, using Reaper. USB hook up is fine for me but had to disconnect the midi in to get it to recognize but this is a known issue/workaround.

Cheers for now! Good work TC Helicon!!!!

Extremely bad taste to say that we, who have waited for over a year for software that should have been released when the product was released, should “wimper or whine.” Love your product, hate your attitude. How about, “We are really sorry to take a year and a half to do what we should have done in the first place”? How do you release a product before having the software to manage it?

  11. Joey says:

    Hiya Shannon,

I’m afraid it’s too late to be included in the beta testing… but, I will happily put your name down for any beta testing opportunities that may come up in the future!

Thanks so much for your interest and patience :) .

    Best wishes,

    Joey

  12. Joey says:

    Hiya,

I’m afraid it’s too late to be included in the beta testing this time… however, I have listed you as interested for any future beta testing opportunities which may come up in the future :) .

    Best wishes,

    Joey

  13. Alcides says:

Hi Joey, you can put my name on the list too!!!

  14. Mike says:

I have been singing for 25 years in all kinds of situations. There has never been a device for singers that has ever come close to what you guys have done with the Voicelive 2. As far as I’m concerned you can take as long as you need to update your product. You guys have pushed the bar for live vocal processing and there is no one else even in the same league. You guys are in uncharted territory and you guys are setting the standard. Keep up the great work! Oh, by the way, I just bought my second Voicelive 2 for the band.

  15. Richie sikora says:

Lee, your comment makes you sound like an immature child.

  16. vanderlei says:

    Oi,sou do Brasil.
Essa atualização poderia conter cover dos vocais clássicos como Beatles, Eagles, America etc. Tenho tentado 1 voz up outra down, mas sinto que às vezes o vocal não soa igual. Gostaria de uma solução para isso. Obrigado

  17. Shannon says:

    Thanks Joey..

I was just being silly… I knew it was too late for this beta test…
But I WOULD like to be considered for future beta stuff. I use my Voicelive 2 in every set that I play and I play several nights a week, so I could certainly put it though the paces for ya.

  18. Shannon says:

    And Lee…

    Richie said it all…

    Thanks Richie… my sentiments exactly…

Grow up… you are not ENTITLED to anything more than what you PURCHASED a year ago… nobody twisted your arm to buy it…

We all own the same thing and MOST of us have figured out how to make the best of and already excellent product while we patiently wait for an update that we didn’t pay for and are NOT necessarily entitled to in the first place…

  19. JuanVilchez says:

Take me into account too for future beta testing (VoiceLive2). If I could be of assistance, it’s great.

  20. Hey, while you’re taking names for interested BETA testers, could you take mine down too? I’d love to check out & test new stuff in the future.

  21. Lee Coulman says:

When I purchased the pedal (at great expense) I expected there to be software to manage the presets via computer (much more effeciently than via the device) like all other tc helicon devices (previously owned Voiceworks rack). I have 50+ songs in my sets that must be rearranged when the sets are rearranged. I know it sounds like whinning, but a software manager, alone, could and should have been released at the time the device hit the market. There is no excuse for the company’s failure to provide that.

The release of the software appears to be held up because of a problem with the studder effect, which will probably be useless anyway for 99.99% of the users. To hold up the software manager for an effect that will most likely not be used is, in my humble opinion, inexcusable.

  22. Lee Coulman says:

    And Shannon:

I did state that I love the Voicelive 2 and I am eternally grateful to tc helicon for making it. That having been said…

A software editor is not an update- it is something that should have been included in the original purchase. When you buy any hardware, it comes with software to be able to access the device via computer.

You are right that the “studder” effect is an update and there should be no expectation of “free” updates. I am grateful that this one appears to be a free update, and to that I say kudoos to tc helicon. I’m not sure how many people want this “studder” effect anyway.

The question I have for tc helicon is why does a software manager have to wait for the update? Joey, do you have an answer for that?

And Richie, since I am so immature I have only one thing to say: Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet? Is it ready yet? etc.

  23. Rob Keith says:

Well its the 15th here in Aus, but I guess its still the 14th in Europe till evening here at least anyway, looking forward and I hope you guys are on track??

  24. Mr. Serge says:

I am happy. Today great day. I will obtain everything that TC promised to me .

    Thank you, TC !!!

  25. Bolide says:

Well, it’s noon here in France, but aren’t TC offices in Victoria BC, Canada ? In this case they are probably still closed, and the expected update won’t be available before a few (long) hours…

    (sigh)

    ;-)

  26. márcio says:

    another delay?

  27. Mark says:

This means they are on Pacific time zone….give them a chance to wake up! :)

    Cheers…..

  28. Lee says:

TC Helicon says: One the more significant issues that affected the schedule was how the new Rhythmic Effects are organized and triggered. These effects were ready to go when the upgrade was announced, but once internal testing starting performing with them – there was a major overhaul to how the new effects are controlled for better use in live performance.

What’s the current schedule? An internal BETA version has been in test for many weeks. This week, a BETA release will go out to VoiceLive 2 customers picked just before the NAMM show in January. Based -on the results of external and in-house testing everything is focused on a March 15th release date. We take responsibility for it being late (we’ll also take responsibility for what the upgrade brings to VoiceLive 2).

    Is it ready yet?

  29. Fab says:

    what’s up?
    another delay?
    hmmm…

  30. Rob Keith says:

It says its 4.57pm 15th March Victoria BC, acc to google world time is this going to be a 1 minute to midnight release???

  31. edward says:

well its still the 15th here…

its stoked to see what happens!!!
    im proud of tc-helicon…
