VoiceLive 2 Beta 0.5.00 software released

April 8, 2009 by admin

The first build of BETA software was released on April 3rd. This is even further along that the alpha build we used for the demos at Musikmesse. At this point testing is the biggest part of our life. This includes fixing bugs but also getting final minor features implemented that came up through alpha testing. Also voicing the effects styles and presets is well underway.

We have a couple extra spots for some final testing coming up. If you’re interested give your plea as to why you’d be a great BETA tester for the product and leave your email address. You’d get you hands on one for few weeks before we got it back from you to examine the product.

I’ll be tough, I promise, please let me be able to try out the VL2, I am a keyboard vocalist, and have some great items to try with such as Korg Oasys, PA2X Pro, Ketron SD3, Guitar player also.

  2. Jonathan Kidwell says:

What a great opportunity. If you need another tester, I have an undergraduate degree in Music and Technology with a concentration in classical guitar. I also served as an FOH engineer and a touring engineer for nearly 5 years. I currently sing and play a couple hours a day. The Voice Live 2 would definitiely get a workout along with the rest of my rig. I would love the opportunity to help.

  3. Solo acoustic guitar/VOX/Harmonica, use relatively few features, but would be a valuable source of feedback for intuitive learning curve, VL1 user, lemme know!

  4. I’d be very honoured and pleased to test your outstanding product. I am a singer who is presently participating in two accurate tribute projects, aiming to bring back the magnificent vocal harmonies of art rock band Uriah Heep, and the monumental sound of the symphotronic genre founded by Alan Parsons also by genial use of instrumental and voice effects. As you can imagine, we have a great need for a superior class live vocal effect, and our present equipment can’t do the job. Unfortunately, I am very far from you, being based in Italy, and suppose it would be pretty awkward for you to include me and my projects in the testing of VoiceLive2. Anyway, I already reserved mine for purchase if you have good results to distribute it as soon as you can. Congratulations and best wishes for your work then…

currently, i am WAITING TO PURCHASE A VOICE LIVE 2 from American Musical Supply. am very excited to begin working with the VL2 unit. i didnt pre-order because i am ordering other items together, and they won’t ship them until the VL2 is in stock.

i am singer/songwriter and i worked in product development, software industry, testing, QA and Tech Support Manager at Accolade in the late 80s to mid 90s.

  7. Mark Maidment says:

I am currently 48 and have been playing guitar and keyboards since I was 14. I have the VoiceLive as well as Harmony G and I am fully versed in their strengths and weaknesses. I feel I have a lot to offer to the beta testing given that I love to “research” and “dissect” new technology. I have been drooling over the videos and would love to help out if I could. I am very tech savvy as well as having a good working knowledge of music.

On the consumer side…I am waiting patiently for the release of the finished product so I can pick one up. My band loves when I bring in new gear! :)

  8. mrserge says:

I am guitar vocalist with 225 perf. in 2008.
My current stuff now is VoiceTone Create, VoiceTone Correct , Harmony-G with G-System and G-Natural both electric and acoustic .
I am waiting to purchase a VOCELIVE2 from thomann.de and will be writing a review on how to use it for my application.

    yamaha 01X, 2X L1 Model II .

    Thank you TC !!

  9. Kevin K says:

I would love to help with the testing of this unit. I feel I would be a great tester as I already have one on order so i will be very particular. Im in a 3 piece band with no back ups, and we play a huge variety of music, so I have a lot of responsibility vocally. I use a digitech harmonizer now which is a mediocre unit, so I’m already familar with how it should work and what it should sound like. Alberta, Canada

  10. Russ Boyer says:

I’m not sure if I’m worthy, but have been following all of the updates for this amazing processor and am so excited to get one. I am a complete novice, but would be able to give you honest and open feedback. Regardless, this to me is one of the most exciting products to come around in years. I love that you are taking the time for these tests–hugely important for a successful launch. Best of luck, and keep these updates coming, please!

  11. Hello TC Helicon Team,

I am a guitarist, singer and make music for a living. I`d certainly be a good Beta Tester because I already own many of your products (Voice Live, HarmonyG, Harmony Controll Guitar, Nova System, Voice Tone Correct, Voice Solo 300 & 200) and I am thrilled by the quality of TC Products.

I am interested in finding out every detail in a new product and I am honest about its pros and cons. Because I play live many times during the year I know what a singer on stage wanst a product like the voice live 2 to do.

So whether you choose me or not I am looking forward to having this product in my hands. Keep up the good work !

    Sincerely

    Joe

  12. Martin says:

Used the Voicelive for several years. I am a leadsinger and use miditemp for pitch correction, harmony and backing tracks . Of course I am very curious about the new VL2 especially in the ease of Pitch C and harmony by guitar cords and backing tracks!!
As soon as I can buy the VL2 this will be the first thing I’ll do – a test version would realy be appreciated so I can start testing the new features asap!

  13. Martin says:

p.s. the download link does not work!

  14. admin says:

Thanks for the note. The link is a specialized link we’re testing out for the VoiceSupport software. The VoiceSupport app downloads the feeds in the VoiceLive Support Blog category. The download link works in the software application to download the software. The next step is to fix it so it disapears or works in the web version of the post. All sounds complicated – but in the end will all come together.

  15. Chris Flynn says:

Saw the note about BETA testing… I’m a singer/guitarist in the NY/NJ area that does solo, duo, church and full band shows. I recently purchased the VT Harmony-G and VT Correct pedal and given the success i’ve had with those I’m looking forward to the VL2. The venues vary from coffee shops with my AER amp to clubs where we bring out own PA to some of the larger NYC rooms such as Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, etc.

I’m also a developer and have many years of software testing behind me and would love to be a VL2 tester.

    thx

  16. Mike says:

    Hi,
I lead church music. Few styles under one roof.

Traditional group – great for choir fx etc.
Contemporary group – harmonies and fx
Urban Mix – Cher FX, Doubling, etc.

Would LOVE to test and buy one.

    Mike

  17. Don Kelly says:

Would love to help test the units. My group, Equinox, is interested in the VL2 for both vocals and sax/flute processing. We use Digitech boxes now, and am really looking forward to switching over to the VL2. I’m also a Ph.D. in DSP, so am interested in checking it out from tech point-of-view as well!

  18. Bob Klein says:

    Hi, TC-Helicon!

I sold my beloved VoiceLive on Ebay last week in order to be able to buy VoiceLive 2 the minute it hits the streets (already pre-ordered one through Sweetwater). HOWEVER, I find that I now am suffering SERIOUS WITHDRAWAL symptoms caused by having to part ways with my original VoiceLive, which is now in the hands of its very happy new owner.

In short, I need my FIX of great TC-Helicon harmony magic, which is why I would LOVE to be one of your BEA TESTERS!

Please put some harmony back in my life!
    Bob

  19. Brandon Chase says:

I am a 29yr old worship leader at a local church with folks that hear me perform every week, so I am interested in how they will respond to the VL2. However I also travel domestically, and internationally frequently so I am interested to see how this holds up to the travel. I have the VL1, and would like to see the needed upgrades. I have adequate music background (no Ph.d’s) but plenty of pro studio time, and performing music has been my full time job for 10yrs. I want great equipment with me, my job depends on it. Concsider me to BETA test, you’ll get the honest truth good or bad…

  20. admin says:

Thanks for all the great requests. We’ll be contacting some of you on Monday. We’ll do our best to get units out to two people, then get forwarded on to another 2 – so more of you get exposed to it and get some testing feedback. Sincere thanks for the interest.

  21. John B says:

I was just wondering if the new VL2 will incorporate any of the voice features of the new Voice Tone ‘Synth’?

  22. admin says:

VoiceLive includes the transducer block and HardTune block from VoiceTone Synth but not the MassiveBand Vocoder

  23. I’d love to be a beta tester. I already plan on buying this product and I haven’t even heard it yet. I swear by the Voice Live 1, own two of them, and control the Live FX parameters of my own (lead) vocals, as well as using another Voice Live to control my background vocalists. I use every aspect of the Voice Live and I’m surely not afraid of the deep editing capabilites. I’ve never felt that the Voice Live was for the light of heart. However, it appears you’ve designed the voice machine of my dreams with the VL2. Let me test it out for you. I would love the opportunity to be in on this. I’m an avid user of TC-Helicon and TC-Electronics equipment. Almost all of my outboard gear has been manufactured by TC.

    Thank You Kindly,

    Brian Stevenson,

A Fan and User for LIFE!!!

  24. admin says:

Hey all – we’ve picked two of you for the first round. If the timing goes right, we’ll be able to do 2 more. If you posted here saying you want to test – make sure you post your email address in the comment we need that to get in touch with you.

  25. Martin says:

Who are the lucky ones?? :-)

    - please leave some comments and test results on this blog!!
    - I think we all are curious!!

  26. Brian Reed says:

Hi I am a guitar teacher working through the registry of guitar tutors (RGT) I also am a singer songwriter and I perform in a trio. I have extensive musical tastes and knowledge and I also have an Apple Mac Logic8 studio set up at home. I feel that I would be able to offer a good testing base due to my involvement with music and musicians on a daily basis. I am enthralled by the VL2 and I would dearly like to be involved with the company at this level. In anticipation….

    Regards

  27. Alan Reyes says:

    Greetings TC-Helicon,

I feel like I would be able to give honest feedback for the testing of the Voicelive 2. I live in Nashville, Tennessee and perform in the area; and give voice lessons for a living. I am a longtime student of Brett Manning(he is endorced by your voice council; his website: http://www.singingsuccess.com), and am also a candidate for certification as a voice instructor in his company. I am familiar with effects pedals and have played the guitar for 11 years, so I’d be able to test out the a harmony-g side of the pedal as well.

I’ve been waiting for this pedal anxiously ever since it debuted at NAMM 09. I have already pre-ordered the pedal through Sweetwater. I have thick vocal cords, and having studied with Brett, I can now sing high, soulful music(Marvin Gaye, Michael Bolton) where you have to sound like a man up high. I’ll gladly let you know how the voicelive 2 reacts to the “BIG” voice.

And the best part is: it’s not just my voice that will be used for the testing. Since I am only a stone’s throw away from Brett Manning Studios/Singing Success, I’ll let you know how the pedal reacts to the other instructor’s voices(even Brett Manning himself)! I am friends with all the instructors and observe lessons all the time there!

Since I perform at night(I would use the pedal at my gigs) and devote all my daytime to practice and musical development, I would have plenty of time to do a very thorough testing of this wonderful product! Thank you for being the only pro-audio company 100% dedicated to the needs of the singer!

    Alan Reyes
    Nashville, TN

  28. Andy Jones says:

Hi I am a vocalist in a recently formed band in Aberdeen, UK. One of our weaknesses is our backing vocal capability. I am also looking into the possibility of performing solo as a side line and it seems that this product might be the key to such a step. I’ve been viwing the videos on YouTube and have been very impressed with what I’ve seen so far. I am extremely well technically versed with many forms of music gear and work in a computer environment. Although I don’t make a living from my playing we’re hoping to make at least some money in the short term future. I would endeavour to give the product a thorough testing process and feedback on what I thought was good and bad. If required I would happily perform demonstration of the product here in Aberdeen, Scotland. If I’m too late then no problems. Best regards Andy Jones

Ok – we’re closing off the sign-offs as of now. We really appreciate everyone pouring their hearts out on why they would be great to test out VoiceLive 2. We’ve picked our first two candidates – which was next to impossible to do with all the posts – I think we looked at tea leaves in the bottom of cup to make the final decision. Units will arrive on Friday for Brian Stevenson and Chris Flynn. We’ll setup a post where they can comment about their finding mid next week. We will be forwarding these two units out to two others from this list that we’ll pick later next week. All the best.

  30. Have two of the Voicelive’s in use in our group already and am dying to see what new features and sounds we can come up with using the “TWO”
would love to beta test one of these…. and I live just across the water from Victoria in Gibsons, BC!!

    Hello,
May be this is the place where i must apply for the position of “Tc – helicon – Beta Tester” :) :):).
Ye, for me as a fan and user, it will be a great honor to contribute to the latest product of Tc – Helicon. I use VoiceWorks rack module and VoiceWorks from the PA2XPRO – the synth of the keyboard player of my band. I’ m really impressed by the quality of your products. Now I’m working singer on Canary Islands and studying computer science, so I think it will be very interesting and exciting to test your new product before buy it and I’m hoping to be able to help.

  32. Hi gang,

Please send one of these units to Jimmy buffett. he really needs quite a bit of help with his vocals. He pretty much plays to sold out crouds year round so I’m sure he could give it quite a work out.
