VoiceTone Synth Software Update version 1.0.01

August 25, 2009 by admin

This software update for Synth corrects the issue where the effects can randomly exhibit a large delay.  It is recommended for all users and is easy to do using the VoiceSupport application and the USB cable provided with Synth. Note: After the update, VoiceSupport will show the current version as 1.0.1 while the file is named 1.0.01. They are the same.

I just did a few Gig’s in 4 to 800 seat clubs and noticed that on stage volume effects the way you sing into the voice live 2. It seems the bleed form the noise make it crackle and cut out when you sing into the mic. I have to adjust to the petal and push the air into the mic to make it work without breaking up. I turned the gate off and that seemed to work better but is there any other setting I can adjust for this type of sitiuation?

    Hi Matty,

this is a VoiceTone Synth blog, but maybe admin can move our posts.

I wanted to answer you, because I’m facing the same difficulties. I already talked with support about it and unfortunately there is no simple solution to this. My advice is:

    - Don’t turn the gate off, because you need a gate to avoid that the noises on stage (in my case mostly our drummer) trigger the harmonies or just muddy your sound. But turn off the adaptive gate and control it in the manual mode.
    - Turn off adaptive EQ, because the VL2 will sometimes adjust the EQ settings to the noises and not to your voice.
    - Think about using a less sensitive mic. My mic is very sensitive (Shure KSM9) and this is causing some problems.
    - Make sure that you really control the mic input gain settings. This is crucial. If your input gain is too low, than the gate settings will not work properly. Your loudest vocals should be nearly at 0db.

If I’m singing on a quiet stage, than I leave all the tone settings at adaptive.

  3. Hi Fellas,

I think I may have the answer. First, ensure that you have all of the latest upgrades/builds installed from the voice application. I never received distortion until trying to use a dynamic mic with the VL2. Proper mic technique cleared this up for me. Typically, I use condesner mics live. However, I was being lazy one day and decided to just grab an EV Raven dynamic mic that was lying around. Instantly, I got distortion. After experimenting, I found that keep my lips off the mic, and raising the VL2 volume in the mix allowed me to relax and avoid distortion. At the time I had Auto gain engaged but not the other auto buttons on the upper left portion of the unit. I would leave them all engaged, including auto EQ…the manual tells you to sing at full velocity when setting auto gain. I disagree. My best results are to sing at a comfortable and normal velocity. When singing hard into it, it almost undercompensates. It’s expecting that volume all the time…the best solution is to train this to your typical singing velocity and the distortion should go away. Just to reiterate, if you don’t have all of the latest builds you will experience several other issues.

  4. hi there

I am getting some really dissapointing latency with my voicetone pedal! Is there any chance this can be solved with a software update? When I play live with my electro band the latency becomes very noticeable.

Also when i go to download the BUILD26 1.0.06 update the progress bar seems to stay on 0. I have left it for a few hours and still nothing. Could you shed any light on this?

    Thanks!
    Owen
